A Shift Towards Electric Deliveries
Earlier this year, The Spar Group announced its electric vehicle initiative for online deliveries via its platform, Spar2U. Following a successful pilot phase, the group is now transitioning from conventional fuel-powered bikes to energy-efficient vehicles. This change promises to eliminate over 212.4 tons of tailpipe carbon emissions annually, a major stride towards the company’s sustainability goals. These ambitions don’t end here, as SPAR aims for net-zero emissions across all operations by 2050.
Inhance, in collaboration with SkyNet, is at the heart of this shift. We’ve aided SPAR in the replacement of 65 of its traditional delivery bikes with a new fleet that comprises:
- Two-seater, 300kg load capacity 4-wheeler City Vans
- 53 electric motorcycles with an 80kg load capacity
- 12 three-wheel motorcycles with a 200kg load capacity
These vehicles have already been deployed in several provinces, including Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, and Lowveld.

While the move towards an electric fleet is a significant step in reducing carbon emissions, SPAR’s dedication doesn’t end there. Blake Raubenheimer, executive: Omnichannel at The Spar Group, emphasised the brand’s commitment to minimising its environmental impact.
