Job Purpose
To provide specialist technical fleet management expertise across the business and client operations. The role is responsible for improving fleet reliability, utilisation and cost efficiency through effective vehicle selection, maintenance, fuel and tyre management. The role is intended to analyse fleet performance and provide practical recommendations that support operational and commercial improvement.
Role Context and Business Need
The role is required to strengthen the business’s specialist fleet management capability by improving fleet reliability, utilisation and cost efficiency across client operations. The incumbent will provide practical technical expertise in vehicle selection, maintenance, fuel, tyres and fleet operating costs, while using fleet data to identify risks, reduce cost leakage and advise clients on appropriate fleet solutions and improvement opportunities.

Competency Requirements
Knowledge
- Commercial vehicle, truck and fleet operations.
- Fleet maintenance, preventive servicing and maintenance scheduling.
- Fuel management, fuel consumption and loss-control practices.
- Tyre management and tyre lifecycle principles.
- Fleet operating costs, asset utilisation and total cost of ownership.
- Road transport legislation, roadworthiness, licensing and permit requirements.
Technical Skills
- Fleet performance and cost analysis.
- Vehicle specification and selection based on operational requirements.
- Maintenance planning and technical problem solving.
- Fuel and tyre performance analysis.
- Interpretation of fleet, telematics and operational data.
- Use of fleet management, maintenance and fuel management systems.
- Reporting and data analysis using MS Excel or equivalent tools.

Qualifications and experience requirements
- Relevant qualifications in Transport, Logistics, Fleet Management, or a related discipline.
- Practical experience in fleet management and commercial vehicle operations.
- Approximately 10–15 years’ relevant fleet experience, with preference for candidates who have managed operational truck fleets directly.
- Valid driver’s licence (Code C1/EB or higher advantageous).
- Willingness to travel to client operations and sites as required.
