While Montego experienced rapid growth in its sector, this expansion brought with it a host of challenges and complexities in their logistics and supply chain operations. In 2022, Montego’s decision to buy five depots, bringing 90% of their last-mile distribution in-house, significantly altered their logistics landscape. Issues such as visibility gaps in the distribution network and operational inefficiencies across these newly acquired depots became increasingly apparent.

Montego Pet Nutrition’s rapid growth in the pet care sector faced various logistical and supply chain complexities, especially after its strategic move in 2022 to acquire five depots, internalising 90% of its lastmile distribution. Montego’s partnership with Inhance hinged on implementing a tailored Transport Management System (TMS) with advanced solvers and a Mobility Solution, integrating with Montego’s ERP, Microsoft Dynamics 365. This initiative replaced traditional Master Routes with dynamic routing, boosting visibility and route efficiency. The unique value Inhance brought to the project included real-time plan versus actual monitoring and ePOD management, significantly enhancing operational efficiency and customer service. This strategic collaboration not only improved Montego’s logistics but also signified an ongoing relationship focused on continuous innovation and support for Montego’s growth and market expansion.

RESULTS

The partnership with Inhance catalysed significant improvements for Montego, including a 15.5% increase in on-time deliveries, a 6% rise in average vehicle weight utilisation, and a 7% reduction in secondary distribution costs. These achievements were driven by the adoption of dynamic routing, enhanced real-time operational monitoring, and the
implementation of ePOD management.
